By 1934, Dorade had become so well known that she was seen as the archetype for a sailboat, even in the minds of toy manufacturers. The Boucher Playthings Manufacturing Corporation, located at 126 Lafayette Street in New York, introduced a wooden kit for a toy model basedupon the now famous yawl. With a hull that needed to be whittled from a roughly shaped plug, the kit included blocks for house and deck furniture, strips for rail caps, a selection of cast metalfittings and a rig. The plans were drawn by John Williams and dated January 29, 1934. Thelittle yawl had become a miniature icon to children wanting a real ocean racer.
